Mobilize the MAGIC City Project

About Mobilize the MAGIC City

Mobilize the MAGIC City worked with artist-in-residence, Terri Porta, for a year to develop a formal process to involve art and artists in everyday civic life.

Nationwide, artists are contributing to community planning and design to improve economic development, road safety, health outcomes, and more.

Ms. Porta implemented two creative placemaking hubs (think public art informed with community engagement!) along Billings' first neighborhood bikeway, with artist Mariah Gladstone adding a third placemaking hub. The team also documented the process in a Placemaking Playbook, and conducted a public arts committee feasibility study and began discussions about a formal public art process for Billings.

The Mobilize project developed a Placemaking Playbook and Public Arts Committee Feasibility Study. Read the documents here.
