Downtown Bicycle Parking

Downtown Bike Rack Project

As of December 2019, all bike racks have been allocated. We are always looking for sponsors to help us make another order! Please contact monate@billingsmt.gov or 406-247-8637 if you would like to contribute.

When racks are available, we offer them to downtown businesses for only $50. The Downtown Billings Alliance installs and maintains the rack and the rack remains property of the City of Billings.

Each location will be evaluated individually to ensure it meets zoning and planning regulations. The bicycle parking guidelines advise their installation.

Example locations of where public bike racks cannot be installed:

  • private properties
  • in dirt, grass, asphalt, or pavers
  • locations with pedestrian throughway conflicts
If you would like to learn about when more racks might be available, please contact Elyse Monat, Active Transportation Planner at monate@billingsmt.gov.

During 2019, businesses were able to request a Billings branded bike rack thanks to a generous Montana Tourism Grant, as well as local businesses and organizations including Downtown Billings, Visit Billings, Atomic Industries, Billings TrailNet, and Pedal United
