[ARCHIVED] Billings Public Library to host Vietnam Voices exhibit, Navy Band & Rear Adm. Case in August

Aug at BPL

The Billings Public Library would like to invite members of the community to three events happening in August.

Vietnam Voices Traveling Exhibit

The Western Heritage Center traveling display Vietnam Voices, focusing on 81 personal veteran stories, will be displayed at the Billings Public Library through August 28. The exhibit includes stories collected by the Billings Gazette as part of their Vietnam Voices project. Learn about the trials, tragedies, and triumphs of local Vietnam veterans. The exhibit is located on the first floor.

Navy Band Northwest Cascade

The Billings Public Library is excited to host the Navy Band Northwest Cascade, a jazz quintet that will take you through the ages of jazz, on August 10 at the library under the oculus from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. From the early 1900’s swing, to the avant garde, to today’s funk and r&b, be prepared for a true American musical journey!

Rear Admiral Matthew Case

The Billings Public Library is excited to host Rear Admiral Matthew Case on Thursday, August 10, from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Community Room, for a presentation and a welcome to local veterans. Reserved seating is available for veterans. A meet and greet will follow. Rear Admiral Case, director of the Medical Service Corps, assumed command of Naval Medical Forces Atlantic in Portsmouth, Virginia, in 2022. He is visiting Billings for the Yellowstone International Air Show featuring the United States Navy Blue Angels Airshow, August 12-13.

Rear Adm. Matthew Case was a direct accession and commissioned in 1994. He served operationally as Plans, Operations and Medical Intelligence officer with II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and U.S. Naval Forces Europe/U.S. 6th Fleet. In 2007, Case served on an Individual Augmentee tour to Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, Djibouti and again in 2012 with 1st Marine Logistics Group, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
