Hello everyone,
Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks and the Yellowstone Conservation District would like to invite you to a tour of Lake Elmo State Park before the draining and improvement project begins. The invitation is being sent to local legislators, city and county officials, conservation district members, irrigation representatives, FWP’s local Parks Board and Commissioner, FWP Directors staff and associated Parks, Fisheries Staff and local staff, Department of Natural Resources Director and associated AIS,CD and local staff, leads for groups that donated funds for the project, and others with interest.
We will meet at the Lake Elmo Pavilion on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 by 9:00 am. There is parking available on the north side near the Pavilion and at the FWP office with a trail leading to the Pavilion shown in blue on the attached map. The office address is 2300 Lake Elmo Drive Billings, MT 59105.
FWP and the Conservation District will have a short presentation to introduce the project. This will include the project plans and timeline in addition to information about the invasive clams and the anticipated removal by the project. There will be time for questions followed by a walk around the lake to discuss project elements and to visit. The initial day to start the drawdown is September 1st, 2021. We hope to invite this group back as the project nears or is completed in spring of 2022.
This is also a chance to show appreciation to the local and state individuals and groups that have helped get this project underway.
There will be bottled water and pop available to drink.
We look forward to meeting and sharing information about the project.
