The Billings Chamber of Commerce will host the 2024 Candidate School on February 29 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Candidate School is a free program offered by the Billings Chamber for anyone interested in learning more about running for elected office, whether the participant plans to seek office in the upcoming year, is undecided, or simply curious about the process.

Candidate School makes running for office less intimidating by shedding light on the process. “Everyone serving in elected office was a first-time candidate at one point, inspired to serve but unaware of where or how to start. Candidate School helps with that where and how,” shares Business Advocacy Manager Jack Jennaway.

The program agenda includes:

—Campaign finance with Commissioner of Political Practices Chris Gallus

—Insights from Chief of Legislative Staff Jerry Howe

—Digital marketing with Owner of Target Acquired Tim Stark

—Media relations with City of Billings Public Information Officer Victoria Hill

—Canvassing with Americans For Prosperity, Henry Kriegel

—Local legislator panel to share first-hand experience

The Billings Chamber believes in free enterprise and the benefits of competition in the market. It also believes that area businesses are best served when there is healthy competition in local elections. With Candidate School, the Billings Chamber hopes to encourage more residents to run for office.

Each participant will receive a certificate of completion to signify attendance. Certificates will not be considered an endorsement of the participant by the Billings Chamber of Commerce.

The program is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about running for elected office or understanding how local elections work. Register at BillingsChamber.com.

**In the event a quorum of the Council is present, NO City-related business decisions will be made.**
