The upcoming election is a municipal general election with three items on the ballot including municipal court judge, city council, and the parks, recreation, and trails bond.

If you’re already registered to vote, you should’ve received your ballot in the mail by now. You can check your voter status by clicking here to visit the voter portal. You will need to plug in your name and date of birth.

That website also gives you the option to see the status of your ballot.

If you’re not registered and would like to cast a ballot in the election, read on….

Since the election is already underway, you need to fill out the Voter Registration Application and drop it off in person at the elections office inside of the Yellowstone County Courthouse at 217 N. 27th St. downtown.

You can print out the application and fill it out or fill out a copy at the elections office. The office is in room 101, right across the hall from the Motor Vehicle Department where they do vehicle title work and registrations.

Their hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To fill out the application, you will need one of the following:

-A Montana Driver’s License or State ID

OR

-The last four digits of your social security number

If you don’t have either of those, you can provide the following:

-Military ID card, a tribal photo ID card, a United States passport, or a Montana concealed carry permit

OR

-Photo ID with your name (including, but not limited to, a school district or postsecondary education photo ID) AND a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows my name and current address.

If you pick one of the last two options, you need to present the original copies.

You can register through the day before Election Day and your ballot must be turned in on Election Day, which is on Tuesday, November 7th.

You will get a ballot on the spot as soon as your registration is complete.

This election is an all-mail election and polling places will NOT be open on Election Day.

Eligibility to vote in this election is based on your address. You must live within one of the city’s five wards to vote. Click here to view a map of the wards

If you have specific questions, you can call the county elections office at (406)256-2740.
