Support Services, part of the Police Operations divisions, is one of the civilian units within the Police Department. It is authorized to have 13 employees plus a supervisor.

The Support Specialists process all of the officers’ paperwork. They enter officers’ work into the local record system and prepare it for the courts, prosecutors and crime reporting to the state and federal governments. They work within state and national criminal justice databases to enter items that are stolen and people who are missing or wanted.

The clerks work closely with officers and detectives to provide them information from these databases and the local records system. They also work with people from law enforcement agencies around the nation to share information and document recovered stolen items, located missing people and arrests of wanted persons.

The clerical staff operates out of the Police Department 24-hours a day. The office on the first floor of City Hall is open to the public 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
