Biography
Mike is a proud native of Billings. He went to Meadowlark Elementary, Will James Junior High and West High School. He graduated from Eastern Montana College with a degree in Economics and followed his wife Judy to Las Vegas where she taught Special Education in the High Schools. They have two girls, Sarah and Hannah who are professionals in the hospitality industry.
Mike pursued a career in the Hotel/Casino industry, working in large hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.
In 2008 he returned to Billings where he and his brother purchased and then refurbished the then-closed Northern Hotel. Since then, he has been active in the community chairing the Big Sky Economic Development Corporation, the Billings Chamber of Commerce, the Billings Preservation Society (that’s the Moss Mansion), and served on the MSU-B Foundation Board. He has worked to improve Public Safety in Billings in a number of endeavors, including serving as Treasurer for Citizens for a Safer Billings, the group that campaigned to pass the most recent Safety Levy.
He believes that Billings’ future is great. His priorities for the Magic City include Public Safety, a vibrant economy and a community with a great quality of life. While those are all long-term goals, he believes that we can all start immediately by being a good neighbor to those around us.
In his spare time, he enjoys league bowling, and shooting sports.
