Open burning is generally prohibited within the City limits. If you plan on burning, a permit is required. All firefighters are trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and every fire engine is usually staffed with a paramedic as well. Firefighter/Paramedics are able to begin life saving care and medications before the arrival of an ambulance. Additionally, your neighborhood fire stations are located strategically throughout the city to provide short response times.
