Deadline Extended! Share your feedback on the proposed pedestrian and bicycle network by Aug. 4!
The second phase of public outreach for the Billings Area Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan is here! Share your comments on the proposed network at https://sandersonstewart.com/projects/billingsbikepedplan/call-to-action/.
Your input is crucial to help us build a community that meets everyone’s needs!
The proposed network is divided up into two types of routes: High Comfort and Supplemental. See the paragraphs or graphics below to understand these two types of routes!
High Comfort: The goal of this type of facility is to make a connection that the majority of people in our community feel comfortable using no matter if they bike/walk once a year or every day. Exactly what this facility looks
like has not been defined yet.
High-comfort facilities take many forms depending on context, but are characterized by:
High comfort facilities will also benefit walkers through improvements like greater separation from cars, slower/less motor vehicle traffic, and new trail facilities.
Supplemental: The goal of this type of facility is to make a connection, but it may not provide the same level of protection from motor vehicle traffic that the high-comfort network is intended to provide.
High comfort facilities may still be considered on these routes, but due to budgetary and space limitations, not all routes can be high comfort routes.
