A ribbon cutting for the new BBWA Canal Connection Trail north of Rose Park is set for Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m.
The celebration will take place at the intersection of Woody Drive and Solomon Avenue. It will include free ice cream and a .27-mile speedwalking and running race.
"We have already received positive feedback about this project. If you take a walk over there you are likely to see other Billings residents using the trail," said Elyse Monat, active transportation planner for the City of Billings Planning and Community Services department.
The trail was partially funded through a grant from Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.
The City of Billings Public Works Department provided additional funding and in-kind assistance to complete the project.
Non-profit Billings TrailNet provided funding for the preliminary design of this project, which proved the City's commitment to the project and helped increase the chances of being funded.
In the event a quorum of the Council is present, NO City-related business decisions will be made.
