Bike & Ride
Overview
You can catch the MET at most corners (before the intersection) where it is safe to stop or at any MET Bus Stop sign, or Bus Bench. A simple wave when the bus is a half block away lets the driver know to stop for you and your bicycle. Before the bus arrives, remove items like knapsacks, tire pumps, and other items that could cause a hazard or fall off.
General Precautions & Tips
- For safety reasons, MET drivers are not allowed to help you load or unload your bicycle.
- Always load and unload your bike from the curb side.
- The bike rack is made to hold two bikes. Bicycles are not allowed inside the bus.
- Children under the age of 14 may use the bike racks only if an older bike rider is available to assist in the loading and unloading of the child’s bike.
- Motorized bikes are not allowed
- Bikes with children seats, large carriers, or other attachments considered hazardous are not allowed.
- MET Transit is not responsible for damages incurred or caused by or to bicycles on MET Transit bicycle racks.
- You are responsible for properly securing your bike to the rack.
Loading Your Bicycle
- Simply grab the handle bar on the front of the bike rack and pull up to release and then lower the rack towards you to unfold it.
- Lift your bike onto the rack, fitting the tires into the wheel slots. Please use the inside slot first.
- Pull the support arm out and up over the front tire to secure the bike in place.
Unloading Your Bicycle
- Before you get off the bus, tell the driver you want to unload your bike.
- Pull the support arm out and down over the tire to release it from the tire.
- Lift your bike out of the rack and onto the curb. If the rack is empty, fold up the rack to the locked position. Stand clear of the bus.
- A wave to the MET driver tells the driver you are finished unloading your bike.
